Catch Some Drive-In Movies Under the Stars!

Are you looking for a unique movie experience? You’re in luck: drive-in movies are becoming a thing again! There are a few drive-in movie spots in and around the Atlanta area that allow you and your kids to see a flick on the big screen from the comfort and safety of your car.

So corral your children and significant other, gather up some pillows and blankets, and heat up some popcorn to go (or even better, support the establishments below and purchase piping hot popcorn at your destination!). It’s time to catch some summer drive-in movies under the stars!

Drive-Ins in Atlanta…

The Starlight Drive-In Theatre and Flea Market is open 7 days a week and shows a mix of new releases and old favorites. The first showings are usually at 9:30 p.m., and you can catch a movie as late as 1:30 a.m.! Adult tickets are $10, children ages 5-9 cost $1, and all tickets are good for a double feature. Be sure to check out their FAQ page before you go to learn how to best enjoy your drive-in experience. The Starlight Theatre is located at 2000 Moreland Avenue SE in Atlanta.

Atlanta’s oldest operating cinema, the Plaza Theatre, is offering drive-in movies in their parking lot as well as at the nearby Dad’s Garage parking lot. See old and new favorites on a 20-foot screen from your car! Popcorn and bathrooms are available. Tickets start at $15 per car. Purchase tickets in advance on their website. The Plaza Theatre is located at 1049 Ponce de Leon Avenue NE in Atlanta.

If you are up for a short drive…

Head up to north Georgia, to the Swan Drive-In Theatre in Blue Ridge. This drive-in has been entertaining patrons since 1955 and is still rated as one of the best around. It is open year round playing some of the best movies. Admission prices are: Adults $10, Children ages 4 thru 11 years old are $5. Children under three years old are admitted free. Head up their early and spend the day walking around beautiful downtown Blue Ridge. The Swan Drive-In Theatre is located at 651 Summit St. in Blue Ridge.

Lastly, make a drive towards Chattanooga, to the what is rumored to be the largest drive-in movie theater in the world, Wilderness Outdoor Movie Theater. Their double features start at 9:30pm on the weekends, with general admission being $7 per person. Outside food and drinks are not permitted, but they have a some great options at their concession stand. The Wilderness Outdoor Movie Theater is located at 217 Old Hales Gap Rd in Trenton.
