Summer is in full swing in Atlanta, and June is packed with ways to make the most of it! From festivals to nature adventures, movies under the stars, and hands-on fun for kids, there’s no shortage of family-friendly events happening around town this month. Whether you’re planning weekend outings or just looking for a few easy ways to keep everyone entertained, we’ve rounded up some of the best things to do around Atlanta in June.

June Family Friendly Events In and Around Atlanta
June 5 – Art Walk, Marietta Square, 5-9 pm. Experience the local art scene and dine at the restaurant you have been wanting to try. Good for a date night or for casually introducing your kids to local art and artists.
June 6 – Crafting Community: A Character Education Workshop, Children’s Museum of Atlanta, 10:30-11:30 am. Be part of a fun, interactive paper-puppet show where families will celebrate the everyday heroes who help make our neighborhoods vibrant and joyful. Little ones will discover the many roles people play in building a caring community. Recommended for ages 3+. The workshop is included in the museum admission.
June 6 – Braves Country 5K, Truist Park, 7:30 am. You’ll run through the streets surrounding Truist Park before heading back to the ballpark to cross the finish line on the field! This is a family-friendly event that offers kids an opportunity to participate in the Dash (ages 7 & under). Dash participants will receive a short-sleeved shirt. All skill levels are welcome!
June 6-7 – Summer Fest, Virginia-Highland. Summerfest is a celebration of community and a great way to kick off the summer! Begin your summer in the beautiful neighborhood of Virginia Highland. Enjoy live bands, shop for art, eat some great food, and even run a 5K!
June 6-7 – Butterfly Festival, Chattahoochee Nature Center. The Chattahoochee Nature Center in Roswell, GA hosts an annual butterfly garden event. Bring your camera and your kids to enjoy the butterfly garden on the grounds. Feed, study, and talk with pollinator experts about the different types of butterflies found in the garden.
June 6 & 20 – Braves Block Party, The Battery Atlanta, starting 4 hours before first pitch. Braves Block Parties bring fans together before select home games for an electric mix of live entertainment and nonstop energy—just steps away from the ballpark.
June 11 & 25 – Lights, Camera, Avalon, 6 pm. Kick back, relax, & enjoy movie nights in The Plaza all summer long! Family favorites will be taking over our LED screen every other Thursday in June & July, starting at 6 pm. June 11th is The Princess Diaries, and June 25th is The Parent Trap.
June 13 – Kickoff to the Cup, Children’s Museum of Atlanta, 10 am-4:30 pm. Enjoy hands-on activities like STEM experiments, art projects, cooking in the diner, fishing in the pond, and more. There will be tons of fútbol-inspired fun to experience during your visit! Stay tuned for more details.
June 13 – Explorasaurus Rex, Fernbank Natural History Museum, 10 am – 1 pm. Sink your teeth into fearsome family fun at Fernbank as they celebrate the arrival of T. rex: The Ultimate Predator! Claw your way through a day full of hands-on activities and interactive stations as you meet the Tyrannosaur family. Design a crown fit for a King or a Queen, test your dinosaur knowledge, and more.
June 13-14 – Rock Fest, Tellus Science Museum, 10 am-5 pm. It’s time again for the Southeast’s favorite rock show! With geology-themed activities and experiences for the whole family, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
June 14 – World Block Party, Zoo Atlanta, 3:30-7:30 pm. Join the Zoo for a wild celebration including exclusive Keeper Talks, family-friendly activities, and the chance to see animals from all over the globe. Whether you just want extra time to explore Zoo Atlanta or celebrate before the international soccer tournament in Atlanta, there’s something for everyone to learn, play, and connect with culture!
June 14 – UPS Second Sunday, High Museum of Art, 12-5 pm. FREE admission for all visitors.
June 19-21 – Juneteenth Atlanta Parade and Music Festival, Piedmont Park. Celebrate all weekend long at Piedmont Park! The parade begins at noon on Saturday and routes from the King Center on Auburn Ave NE to Piedmont Park. In addition to speakers, there will be musical performances, food trucks, and a large children’s activity area.
June 19 – Juneteenth, Atlanta History Center, 10 am-4 pm. Join the Atlanta History Center for a FREE day filled with activities for the whole family as we celebrate Juneteenth and the enduring power of Black craftsmanship and artistry.
June 20 – Cereal Saturdays, Atlanta Center for Puppetry Arts, 10 am-12:30 pm. Revisit classic puppet TV shows from the past in a laid-back, living room-like environment, complete with a selection of cereals, milk, juice, and coffee available for purchase. Cereal Saturday is included with paid museum admission.
June 27 – Bourbon and Brisket Festival, The Battery Atlanta, 12-8 pm. FREE for the whole family! Enjoy a fun day of BBQ, bourbon, live music, and fun—all for a great cause!
