The Paw Patrol Shoes

We bought Paw Patrol shoes and it was a big deal.

Every mom on Instagram knows that your baby only wears moccasins from the time they come out of the womb until forever, duh! Millennial moms like myself have fallen into this pattern of dressing our kids like adults. Wearing Mickey Mouse on your shirt isn’t what’s necessarily popular anymore. You’ve got to have a cool slogan and some awesome leggings to make the cut. And there’s nothing wrong with that, heck a lot of times that’s me. Until recently.

Everyone also knows that Paw Patrol on Nickelodeon is all the rave. It’s the new show for the tots, and I actually kind of like it too. I didn’t really let my son watch cartoons on TV but lately, I’ll have some on in the background and Paw Patrol was the one that swept him off his feet. Of course with that came the character items! At first, we got him a cup just because we thought it was cute. Then grandma got him some pajamas. But, my life really changed when we got him the shoes.

I had kind of secretly vowed to myself that I would never let my little boy live out the childhood dream of wearing character themed light up shoes because OMG how un-cool of me. I could NEVER let my child be seen in light up shoes *gasp*. Then one day we went down the shoe aisle at Target. My little 18-month-old walked over to the light up shoes, brought them to me, and said “Paw Patrol.” (ALL. THE . TEARS) How do you say no? He had never done anything like this before (besides asking for food or a drink) and it completely melted my heart. So, I broke my vow to myself and I purchased the light up shoes. Now my baby wears those shoes day and night, inside and outside, stomping and looking down at every chance he gets. And you know what I do? Cry.

It’s hard being a mom. Really hard. The age of technology and social media that we live in makes it even harder. We want to be the cool mom and totally not disappoint when it comes to living out thimg_8429ese Instagram worthy moments. We won’t disappoint. We’ll think about the little moments. The moment when your baby has a first and so you give in and spoil them a little bit. Let’s break the mold, don’t be afraid to be different and set the precedent. Just buy the Paw Patrol Shoes.

We’re bringing light up shoes back *yep* them moccasins don’t know how to act.

  1. I told myself if I ever had girls that we wouldn’t buy all that tacky Disney princess stuff. But alas, our house looks like Cinderella’s castle threw up all over the seven dwarfs house and we are waiting for our ferry godmother to come clean it up.

  2. I was the same way… but not nearly as cool, and I caved. Big time. Now the entire family is singing the Paw Patrol theme song.
