I’m Starting My Yearly Goals in February

January is my month to recover from the hectic holidays. I don’t start any new projects or set any new goals/resolutions either. The beginning of the year seems so daunting to have to start anything new. Instead, I start in February.

February is a much better month. All the holiday decorations are put away. My mind is more focused to tackle new ideas or embrace any changes I need to make. I have gotten all the good holiday food out of my system and I’m ready to detox my mind, body, and soul.

1. Vision Board – I start a vision board on Pinterest. I’ve done this for years. I pin inspirational quotes, exercise ideas, healthy cooking recipes, and goals. I love this idea. I can always access my vision board on the go.

2. Daily Reminders – I set my phone daily reminders. I set my reminders to do my budget, eat, sleep and exercise. These reminders hold me accountable to my goals. This year I’m working on self-care and development. I’m getting back into the workforce after being gone 8 years. I know I’m going to need to be focused and disciplined.

3. Self Development and Self Care – I usually watch videos or read books that uplift, encourage, and inspire me in my goals while I’m on the treadmill. I’m the kind of girl who needs inspiration and focus. My favorite videos are TedTalks. I pick a subject I’m interested and I get inspired for my day.

4. Grace and Consistency – I try to not focus on how well I’m achieving my goals but my in how I’m doing things daily to keep going to achieve my goals. Life is not a sprint but a marathon. I’m not racing towards anything. My biggest goal is not giving up. For two years now, I’ve been focused on losing 60 pounds. I’m still not there but each day I’m making choices to help me get there. I have learned grace in this area. It’s not always about just achieving the goal but about the lessons, you learn to prevent you from making the same decisions that got you overweight as in my case.

Most people set out in January with good resolutions/goals then by the end of January most have given up.

These simple tips help me keep going. So who is with me with starting their new goals/resolutions in February?
