Fireworks, flags, music, food, swimming, and time with your family and friends. What’s not to love about the 4th of July?! The Atlanta area has so much to offer when it comes to celebrating America’s birthday. Atlanta Mom has put together a list of some events happening in and around Atlanta for your family to enjoy. Whatever you do this year, we hope you have a safe and Happy 4th!

Stone Mountain’s Fantastic Fourth Celebration

July 1-5
Stone Mountain Park

Enjoy a day full of adventure with great family attractions, live entertainment during Summer at the Rock, hike the one-mile trail to the top of Stone Mountain for some amazing views of downtown Atlanta, explore the miles of wooded trails throughout the park and relax in nature, then stay into the evening to experience the NEW Music Across America Light Show presented by the Georgia Office of Highway Safety followed by the EXACT SAME patriotic fireworks finale each night of the celebration!

Access to the Light Show and fireworks is included with an Attractions Ticket or Light Show only ticket. Access to park attractions and seasonal live entertainment is included with an Attractions Ticket.

*Please note that there will be no free Park re-entry allowed. Guests who leave the Park on July 4 and then wish to return will have to re-pay the Park entry fee. Please also be aware that the Park may close gates to traffic once parking capacity is reached.


4th of July Celebration at Lake Lanier

Look Up Atlanta

July 1
Centennial Olympic Park

The largest metropolitan fireworks show in America is back on Saturday, July 1, headlined by a special performance by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.

This is a ticketed event.

Attendees to “Look Up Atlanta” will be able to tailor their visit to the Park’s fireworks spectacular from two options being offered: general admission or a new VIP experience offering amazing amenities and premium viewing locations. Check back often for more information on event activities and entertainment.


Coca-Cola’s 4th of July Fest at Six Flags Over Georgia

Six Flags Over Georgia

Celebrate Independence Day as Six Flags Over Georgia presents the most dazzling fireworks show in the Southeast, presented by Coca-Cola!

After a day of thrilling summer fun join us for a spectacular fireworks finale. Watch as fireworks light up the night sky, glowing over Six Flags Over Georgia’s most spectacular roller coasters.

  • Event Dates: June 30, July 1, July 4
  • Showtime: 9:15 PM
  • Best View: Near SUPERMAN: Ultimate Flight and JUSTICE LEAGUE Battle for Metropolis

The fireworks can be seen from almost any place in the park, but head to Metropolis for the best view!


The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race

July 4
Lenox Square to Piedmont Park

Unfortunately, registration for the race itself is closed, but there is still plenty of celebratory fun to be had.

If you were lucky enough to register for the 60,000+ person race, you may want to check out this unofficial guide to race. If you aren’t running or walking in this year’s race, you can join the more than 150,000 spectators to cheer on your racer along the Peachtree Road racecourse, then meet them in Piedmont Park to celebrate their completion.
