Camping has always been a topic of conversation in our house, especially with two little explorers that love the outdoors. But let’s be honest, although I love having adventures as a family, I was not very excited about the possibility of sleeping uncomfortable, being hot or cold (depending on the weather), and the bugs… I feel like I already went through that in my younger years.
So, when I heard about a “Glamping” experience I was intrigued and all for it. A beautiful and spacious tent with AC (or heater depending on the time of the year), a comfy bed, clean sheets, a little fridge, coffee maker, and on top of that, cute… Sign me up!
Our family spent a lovely weekend with some friends at Timberline Glamping campground in North Georgia a couple of weeks ago. The scenery was breathtaking. The campground is adjacent to Lake Lanier and most tents have a view of the lake. Imagine waking up to that view! We had everything we needed and it was just an hour’s drive from home. It was a great first experience and although we had plenty of commodities there was still that camping feeling and excitement. It was also nice that the bathroom and shower facilities were a couple of steps away from the tent.
The tent was really spacious and secured. There were some lovely string lights hanging outside and at night it was perfect to hang around the fire pit, roast some s’mores, and play games. The kids loved it! We cooked some delicious meals on the fire pit but there was also a grill available. Of course, we threw some hotdogs on there during the day!
There were also many activities to choose from. If you are in the mood to just relax, there were hammocks also provided. When we visited it was still a little chilly but the weather was great for a good stroll around the area to admire the beautiful nature. There’s access to little beaches at the lake, a playground, and plenty of space to wander around. In the warmer months, there is so much more to do. You have the option to rent kayaks, paddleboards, pedal boats, or since you are at the lake there are many other tours you can explore and even rent a boat.
They also offered some other cool rentals to make your experience even more amazing. We asked for the giant “Jenga” game! Who doesn’t love a huge Jenga? They have other options that you can purchase for the kiddos for a small fee like the cutest little kids’ exploring kit which came with little binoculars, a flashlight, a tic-tac-toe game, and a scavenger hunt for them to explore around be entertained.
If you didn’t have enough time to go shopping or forgot, you can also purchase your s’more pack and have it delivered waiting for you in the tent prior to your arrival. And if that’s not enough or you are feeling fancy, there are also charcuterie boxes to pre-order. Could that be more perfect? Now, this is my kind of camping!
Overall, glamping in Georgia is a must-do for a staycation in town where you can explore Georgia’s beautiful outdoors, scenery, nature, and beauty in a relaxing spot full of adventures and memories to be created, or just relax. We will definitely do it again!
