July Family-Friendly Events In and Around Atlanta
Now – August 3 – Harold and the Purple Crayon, Center for Puppetry Arts. Join Harold on this whimsical adventure and discover the magic of creativity in a world where anything is possible! This show is suitable for children aged 4 and above.
July 1-7 – Fantastic Fourth Celebration, Stone Mountain. Enjoy a full day of family fun at the Park before a breathtaking fireworks show at 9:30 pm—tickets required for entry.
July 4 – Peachtree Road Race, Lenox Square to Piedmont Park. Whether you’re running, walking, or spectating, join the Atlanta Track Club for the world’s largest 10K, a beloved Atlanta tradition. Check out our guide to the Fourth of July for other events around the city.
July 8 and July 29 – Wellstar Family Series: Science Made Fun, The Battery Atlanta, 10 am-12 pm. Wellstar Health System invites kids to become scientists as degreed professionals lead them through totally hands-on programs. For ages 4-12. Advanced registration required.
July 10 – Screen on the Green, Atlantic Station, 7-9 pm. Top Gun: Maverick is flying high for Independence Day and turning the thrills up to full throttle. There’ll be food trucks and ample seating, but feel free to bring a snack or two and a picnic blanket, as well. This event is free to the public.
July 12-13 – Repticon, Gwinnett County Fairgrounds, Repticon is a series of reptile & exotic animal conventions running throughout the U.S., a must-stop for reptile collectors and admirers of exotic amphibians.
July 13 – Grossology Day, Zoo Atlanta, 10 am-3 pm. Explore the purpose of animal behaviors that many think of as gross, but that help animals to survive and fulfill their roles in the ecosystem. Check out activity stations, games, and more throughout the Zoo.
July 13 – UPS Second Sunday, High Museum of Art, 12-5 pm. FREE admission for all visitors.
July 13, 20, & 27 – Breakfast with Butterflies, Chattahoochee Nature Center, 10 am-12 pm. Join CNC for a family-friendly morning with exclusive access to CNC’s Butterfly Encounter, where you can enjoy a light breakfast, experience several species of butterflies, and explore the grounds before opening. Advanced registration required.
July 19 – Atlanta Summer Halal Food Festival, Atlantic Station, 12-7 pm. The Atlanta Summer Halal Food Festival is a vibrant outdoor celebration of halal food, culture, and community, bringing together families, friends, and food lovers.
July 19 – Pajama Jam, Children’s Museum of Atlanta, 5:30-7:30 pm. Enjoy all of the sleepover fun and none of the sleep loss at Pajama Jam! There will be snacks, sing-alongs, dancing, and more.
July 22 and 24 – Wellstar Family Series: Kidokinetics Adventure Course, The Battery Atlanta, 10 am-12 pm. Kidokinetics offers a playful introduction to sport for kids, ages 1-10, that makes real exercise fun! Each session will have 3 stations, including an obstacle course and 2 different sports.
July 26 – Atlanta Ice Cream Festival, Piedmont Park, Atlanta Ice Cream Festival is a fun-filled day paying homage to America’s favorite dessert with a variety of food and non-food vendors, live music, fitness routines, and wellness engagement activities. Free admission.
