We love visiting aquariums, and we are lucky to have one of the best right here in Atlanta! Every aquarium has something to offer. Some are more local, and some are up to a four-hour drive away, but we have several just a drive away!
Aquariums to Visit Within Driving Distance of Atlanta
If you haven’t visited our very own aquarium yet, you won’t be disappointed! Georgia Aquarium is the largest aquarium in the United States, and there is enough to see for multiple trips. Consider getting a membership, and don’t forget to reserve your seats for the Dolphin Presentation!
The Tennessee Aquarium is a little over a two-hour drive, and near several other attractions to make a long day trip or weekend getaway.
Flint RiverQuarium is just under a three-hour drive south of Atlanta. This is a small town aquarium, affordable for families, and focuses on the wildlife near Flint River in Albany.
Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies
Around a four-hour drive from Atlanta, Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies is perfect for kids, with multiple play structures. Favorites include the mermaid show, penguin parade, underwater tunnel, and shark display. It’s the perfect aquarium to stop by after a trip to Dollywood!
UGA Marine Education Center and Aquarium
A very small aquarium around 4 hours away, this is a good afternoon visit if you’re already vacationing in Savannah!
