I recently joined a book club with friends which has motivated me to read more. We typically choose fiction books and nothing too heavy in content which is the perfect type of books for summer.
A couple of these have been out for a year or two, but you know, as a mom sometimes it’s hard to sit down with a good book and make time to read. Check out my summer reading recommendations below and click the link on the title for a full description.
Summer Reading List for Mom
- Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens – This has been quite popular and was released a couple of years ago. The movie is being released on July 15th. A young girl named Kya is abandoned by her family and left to raise herself in the marshes in North Carolina. When a murder occurs in the area, she is the prime suspect. Check out this book for romance, murder, and mystery! If you haven’t read it yet, check out the book and then see the movie this month!
- Things You Save in a Fire by Katherine Center – Cassie, a firefighter in Texas is forced to uproot her life and move to Boston to live with her mother. She must earn her place in a dominant male environment. This story has a perfect mix of romance and heartfelt moments with a strong female lead character!
- The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid – A historical fiction novel about a journalist named Monique, trying to make a name for herself. She is given the opportunity to interview the famous 1960s Hollywood star, Evelyn Hugo, about her fascinating life. Follow along with all the scandal, love, and heartbreak in this story.
- Eliza Starts a Rumor by Jane L Rosen – I found this heartfelt story to be the most relatable as a mom. It follows the lives of mothers in the Hudson Valley who develop a friendship and help each other through the struggles in their lives. While they are all going through something different and are at different phases of their motherhood journey they support one another throughout the novel.
