Stepping in Front of the Camera with Katya

A mom is almost always the one behind the camera, not in front of it. At least that’s how it is in my house. And, for the most part, I am fine with that.

    • I have never learned the perfect ways to pose (lean how, tilt the head where?)
    • My hair is typically in a sweaty ponytail (but at least I worked out, right?) or under my favorite ATL hat
    • I get dressed too quickly to put together an Instagrammable outfit every day

It’s not that I’m lacking confidence or even prefer to hide behind the camera… it just happens… I’m not the spotlight of the photos being taken regularly and I, in my mom leggings with unwashed hair, am ok with it.

But when it was time for Atlanta Mom to take new team photos and headshots (new branding, new owners, and new contributors!), the moms were officially in the spotlight!

We arrived at Katya’s studio on a Saturday afternoon.

I knew Katya through friends, but other members of our team were being introduced for the first time. Most arrived a bit nervous (again, we are used to being behind the camera), but Katya’s friendly smile, calming demeanor, and adorable Ukrainian accent quickly washed away anxiety. The glass of champagne that she gave us didn’t hurt either! She showed us around her studio, which is a light, airy, beautiful space with so many options for photos. A beautiful desk, a comfy couch, a simple wall… even outside space if we preferred. Once we decided on our plan for group photos and headshots, Katya got to work!

The girl was on fire!

If I had her in my life daily I would 100% want to be the one in front of the camera! She knows all of the right poses. She made us feel confident. Not that we shouldn’t have been confident all along, but she helped to project that confidence.

It was our turn to be in the spotlight and each mom with our different personalities, different styles, and different stages of life totally rocked our headshots.

Here’s my recommendation to you…

If you are a business owner – check out Katya!

It’s not easy to be the face of a company, an endeavor, an idea. But you have made it this far! So now it’s time to actually show your face.

Step in front of the camera with Katya’s help. She is skilled at personal branding photography and content development. Her branding sessions start with a questionnaire to get to know you, your business, and your vision. Next is the planning. Katya provides a visual style guide and shot list for your photoshoot. And then the fun begins!

Katya’s experience in marketing, branding, graphic design, photography, and social media will surely help you elevate your brand.

If you need personal photos – check out Katya!

With two littles of her own, she knows the importance of documenting ALL the stages… from maternity to full-blown family. Katya will capture your family authentically in whatever stage you are in. It’s time for you to step in front of the camera, so reach out to Katya to schedule a maternity, newborn, or family session today.

Jessica
Jessica is an adventure-loving, over-committing, and previously organized mother of 2! She and her husband (high school sweethearts) moved to Atlanta in 2006 after graduating college, ready to start their life in the “real world”. They have experienced so many wonderful life milestones while in Atlanta – lived in Buckhead pre-kids, bought a house in great Smyrna neighborhood, had their first child in 2011 (a spunky little girl, Vivian), welcomed their second child exactly 18 months later in 2012 (a creative and crazy little boy, Harrison), and most recently added a Golden Doodle named Winston into the mix. Jessica and her family have since moved to the burbs of Milton where you now find them past 2 horse farms on the right. Jessica has always loved being part of a community, so when the opportunity to join the Atlanta Mom executive team presented itself it was a no brainer! She loved it so much, in fact, that in 2021 she and Natalie joined forces to lead the team and continue connecting with awesome moms across the ATL!
