My Favorite (Flat) Places to Run Around Atlanta

My Favorite (Flat) Places to Run Around AtlantaHappy Spring! I am hoping the cold weather is gone and the warmer weather is here to stay for good. One of my favorite things to do as the weather gets warmer is to spend time outside and take my fitness routine outdoors. I enjoy running and exploring the beautiful parks and areas in Atlanta. I typically like to run somewhere flat so I can take my kids along in the jogging stroller, and we all know the Atlanta hills can be killer!

Here are my favorite (flat) places to run and explore around Atlanta:

  1. Roswell Riverwalk – Located in Roswell, the Roswell Riverwalk runs for 7 miles along the Chattahoochee River. While parking can be a bit difficult there are multiple options at Azalea Park and Riverside Park with restroom stops as well as picnic areas. It is a great place to take in nature and spot beautiful birds along the way.
  2. Chastain Park – Located in the Buckhead area of Atlanta, this 3-mile path is a great option if you are looking for something both scenic and challenging. The path surrounds a golf course with a great combination of elevation as well as long flat stretches.
  3. Atlanta Beltline – The Atlanta Beltline Eastside trail runs from the tip of Piedmont Park to Reynoldstown. Although I do not get to go here as often as I would like to it is my favorite place to run. There is a 2-mile paved section of the trail and you can extend it by running through Piedmont Park. Go for a run and then enjoy some yummy food at Ponce City Market or Krog Street Market!
  4. Cochran Shoals Trail – Located in the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, this is a relatively flat 6.00-mile loop with some slight elevation that is perfect if you want to go for a long run and take in the beautiful views. There is a small fee to park but it is worth it. This is my favorite place to run with a friend and there is quite a crowd on weekends!

I hope to add more places to my list this season. Where is your favorite place to go for a run or walk?

Adrianna is a mom of two boys, Julian(3) and Nolan(1.5). Originally from New York, she and her husband moved to Atlanta in the fall of 2018. After moving here, it immediately felt like home for them. Despite the hot and humid summers she loves Atlanta and all that it has to offer for her and her family. After becoming a first-time mom, writing became an outlet for her to openly share all about motherhood; the good the bad, and the ugly. After blogging on her own for some time, she was thrilled when she found the Atlanta Mom community. A former teacher and now stay-at-home-mom, you can usually find her chasing around her boys. When she has some free time she enjoys exercising, reading, or binge-watching a show with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, and of course a snack to go with it!
