When many people think of Girl Scouts, they think of the delicious Thin Mints, Samoas, and Tagalongs (all of which would go great with my cup of coffee right now)! As a mom of a Girl Scout though, I know there are SO MANY other benefits to being a part of this amazing group – my Daisy has developed great friendships in her troop over the past few years, she gets to visit fun places and learn about topics she may otherwise not have been exposed to, and we get to celebrate her accomplishments every time I put a new badge on her sash (Quick Tip: Apply badges in seconds using Badge Magic! It’s truly magical). We’ve loved our experience so much that this week, we have partnered with Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta to hear directly from them all of the benefits you can expect when you enroll your daughter in a troop!
Girl Scouts is about more than just cookies! It teaches girls important life skills and exposes them to new ideas and experiences. For more than 100 years, Girl Scouts has given girls the tools to lead, break barriers and create positive change.
The Girl Scout Leadership Experience is a one-of-a-kind leadership development program for girls, with proven results! It is based on time-tested methods and research-backed programming that help girls take the lead—in their own lives and in the world.
Research shows that girls learn best in an all-girl, girl-led, and girl-friendly environment. Girl Scouts is a place where she’ll practice different skills, explore her potential, take on leadership positions—and even feel allowed to fail, dust herself off, get up, and try again.
Whether she’s building a robotic arm, coding her first app, building a shelter in the wilderness, riding a horse, exploring her surroundings at summer camp, planning a service project to help her community, creating and managing her own business, or packing for her first hike, a Girl Scout has an exciting array of choices to suit her interests at every age.
Parents agree that the Girl Scouts has made a positive impact on their child! 89% of parents in the organization say their girl is happier because of Girl Scouts and 95% say their girl has made more friends through the program.
With Girl Scouts, girls will do more than they ever thought they could, dream bigger dreams than they ever imagined, and — oh, yeah — change the world. Bet you didn’t think rock climbing or selling cookies would help your girl do all that, did you?
