Spooky season is upon us! There’s nothing like a good ghost story to get you in the spirit of the approaching season. Many towns in and around Atlanta offer Ghost Tours. You also might learn a thing or two about the history of the area.

Some tours even offer libations throughout the journey. Grab your walking shoes, pack a flashlight, and take a spooky stroll for some spine-chilling experiences and history. Be sure to check the age limits on these experiences if you plan to bring the kids. Some of these experiences are also great for a spooky fall date night!

Ghost Tours In and Around Atlanta

Decatur Ghost Tour 

Led by paranormal investigator, Boo Newell, the tour is a one-mile stroll along the streets of Decatur. It begins in the heart of downtown Decatur where spirits are rumored to roam freely. You will also take a twilight visit to the Old Decatur Cemetery where some of the most notable residents of Decatur are interred. The tour lasts approximately two hours. Reservations are required. Tour fees: $15. $12 Children under 10.


Ghosts of Marietta 

From walking and trolley tours to an in-depth exploration of the most haunted building in Marietta. Ghosts of Marietta has you covered for experiencing some of the haunts that lurk around the square. You may even find out that you have unknowingly dined in what used to be the city’s morgue. This ghost tour is offered year round Friday – Sunday. Reservations are required. Walking tour fees: $20 for adults, $15 for children under 12. Check the website for group rates, trolley tour rates, and other special offers.


Roswell Ghost Tour 

An experienced guide will lead you on a 2.5-hour tour through the historic district of Roswell. On this tour, you will learn about the founder of Roswell and the graves that lay underneath the streets and houses of Historic Roswell. Paranormal investigators promise to thrill, educate, and enlighten with this experience. This is a one-mile walking tour through the area. They also offer a Spirit Crawl. Reservations are required. Tour fees: $20 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under.


Lawrenceville Ghost Tour 

Take a 90-minute walk through the streets of the oldest city in Metro Atlanta. Recent renovations of the area claimed to have stirred up spirits leading to some spine-chilling paranormal stories from the area. Tours begin the first weekend of September and go all the way through October. Advanced reservations are required. Tour fees: $20 for adults, $15 for children.


Dahlonega Walking Tours

There are a few different options for ghost tours with Dahlonega Walking Tours. They offer a Grapes and Ghosts wine tour, a Boos and Brews Pub Crawl, and a Historic Ghost tour. Listen to ghost stories as you taste some of Dahlonega’s local wines, check out some of the local pubs and the spirits that lurk in the establishments, or take a 1.5 miles historic haunted stroll through the downtown area to hear of paranormal experiences around the town.
