May is in full bloom, and so is the fun around Atlanta! From Mother’s Day outings to outdoor movies, spring festivals, and Memorial Day celebrations, there’s no shortage of family-friendly ways to enjoy the sunshine. Check out some of these Atlanta-area events happening this month!

Now – May 3Georgia State Fair, Echo Park Speedway, Hampton. Exciting Attractions & Shows. All Your Favorite Fair Food. Spectacular Carnival Rides & Kiddie Rides. Safe, Clean Family Fun!

April 29 – May 3 Fleurs de Villes FLORA, Phipps Plaza. This spectacular showcase will feature 15 stunning floral installations, including the signature fresh floral mannequins. Thousands of blooms will be transformed into original couture-inspired creations, blending fashion and florals into a vibrant expression of the season.

Now – May 17The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales, The Center for Puppetry Arts. Come see the world premiere of the Center’s adaptation of this bestselling fan favorite! Delight in

Now – May 31The Georgia Renaissance Festival, Fairburn, Saturdays and Sundays, 10:30 am-6 pm. Go back to 16th-century England and experience jousting, acrobatics, comedy, medieval music, birds of prey, storytelling, an artisan market, tests of strength, camel rides, juggling school, macaroni and cheese on a stick – what are you waiting for?!

May 1 Art Walk, Marietta Square, 5-9 pm. Experience the local art scene and dine at the restaurant you have been wanting to try. Good for a date night or a way to casually introduce your kids to local art and artists.

May 1-2 & 5Community Music Performance at the Battery Atlanta, 6-8:30 pm. Get ready to once again celebrate local jazz talent with inspiring performances from middle school and high school ensembles throughout the season. Each event offers a relaxed, family-friendly way to enjoy live music while supporting young musicians in our community.

May 2 Girl Scout Sleepover, Children’s Museum of Atlanta, 7 pm. Join the Children’s Museum of Atlanta for an unforgettable Girl Scout Sleepover designed especially for Daisy and Brownie troops! This overnight experience blends classic slumber party fun with hands-on STEAM learning. See the website for more details.

May 2Bug Fest, Fernbank, 10 am-1 pm. Get ready to bug out at Fernbank! Explore the incredible world of insects with hands-on activities, crafts, and learning. Crawl, fly, and flutter through science, discovery, and fun! Included with general admission.

May 2 Kentucky Derby Party, Avalon, 5-8 pm. Grab your finest hat and celebrate the Derby in style with a glamorous party, live music, dancing, and of course, a big screen to watch the race.

May 8-9 Smoke on the Lake BBQ Festival, Logan Farm Park, Acworth. Smoke on the Lake BBQ Festival is an annual tradition enjoyed each Mother’s Day Weekend at Logan Farm Park in Acworth, Georgia. Thousands attend to enjoy BBQ cooked by competitive backyard cook teams.

May 9Hidden Rivers: A Free Film Screening, Georgia Aquarium and Sweetwater Brewing, 12-4 pm. There will be two showings of the film at 12:30 pm and 2:30 pm in the Reel Room at Sweetwater Brewing. Come early, stay for both, and spend the afternoon with a community of people who care about the wild places worth protecting.

May 9May 10Northside Hospital Atlanta Women’s 4 Miler, Lenox Square, 8 am. Join the Atlanta Track Club for a morning dedicated to empowering women. With finisher medals, flowers at the finish line, and a women’s cut short-sleeve adidas shirt, this event is perfect for women and girls ages 9 and older.

May 10UPS Second Sunday, High Museum of Art, 12-5 pm. FREE admission for all visitors.

May 10 Mother’s Day at the Zoo, Zoo Atlanta. Mothers will receive free admission to the Zoo with the purchase of one full-price, same-day adult or child ticket.

May 14 Taste of Alpharetta, Downtown Alpharetta, 5-10 pm. Mark your calendar to dine in Downtown Alpharetta at over 60 restaurants in one fun night. Sample delicious appetizers, entrees, and desserts from the top chefs in town. Enjoy culinary demonstrations, activities for all ages, and entertainment to please every palate.

May 15-17 Marietta Greek Festival, Holy Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church, Marietta. Experience the largest Greek festival in Georgia! Enjoy your favorite homemade Greek goodies, music, dancing, and atmosphere as you make your way around the beautiful grounds – experiencing the beauty of the Greek culture!

May 16 Lil’Palooza, Children’s Museum of Atlanta, 5:30-7:30 pm. Come groove at Lil’palooza, Atlanta’s music festival for kids and families! Party with Rumi from Huntrix, jam out with a singing puppet band, enjoy a magic show on the CMA Stage, and dance all night (or until bedtime) in the Kidz Club!

May 16 & 23Atlanta Braves Block Party, The Battery Atlanta, 4-8 pm. Get ready to turn game day into an unforgettable experience! Braves Block Parties bring fans together before select home games for an electric mix of live entertainment and nonstop energy – just steps away from the ballpark.

May 23-25 49th Annual Atlanta Jazz Festival, Piedmont Park. This FREE festival features jazz artists from all over the world.

May 26-31 Beauty and the Beast, The Fox Theatre. Be Our Guest at Disney’s 30th Anniversary production of Beauty and the Beast, the breathtaking musical filled with the romance and grandeur audiences know and love.

May 28 Screen on the Green, Atlantic Station, 7 pm. Join us for a special presentation of The Farewell in honor of Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month. This event is for picnic blankets, popcorn, and picture-perfect moments out on Atlantic Green.
