July Family Friendly Events In and Around Atlanta

July 1-6 Fantastic Fourth Celebration, Stone Mountain. Enjoy a full day of family fun at the Park before a breathtaking fireworks show at 9:30 pm. Tickets required for entry.

July 2 Family Day: Pioneers of Puppetry, Center for Puppetry Arts. What do Lamb Chop, Cookie Monster, and the giant balloons of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade have in common? They were all brought to life by puppetry pioneers who changed the art form forever! Families are invited to explore the lives, creativity, and lasting impact of the innovators who shaped modern puppetry.

July 3 Art Walk, Marietta Square, 5-9 pm. Experience the local art scene and dine at the restaurant you have been wanting to try. Good for a date night or a way to casually introduce your kids to local art and artists.

July 4Peachtree Road Race, Lenox Square to Piedmont Park. Whether you’re running, walking, or spectating, join the Atlanta Track Club for the world’s largest 10K, a beloved Atlanta tradition.

July 4 & 18 Braves Block Party, The Battery Atlanta, starting 4 hours before first pitch. Braves Block Parties bring fans together before select home games for an electric mix of live entertainment and nonstop energy—just steps away from the ballpark.

July 5 Berry Beats: A Growing Together Workshop, Children’s Museum of Atlanta, 11:45 am-12:15 pm. Kids and caregivers will team up to make a tasty snack while stirring up big questions and building cooperation in the kitchen! This workshop is designed for one adult caregiver and 1–2 children to enjoy together. Recommended for children ages 3+. This workshop is included in the Museum admission.

July 5, 12, 19 & 26Breakfast with Butterflies, Chattahoochee Nature Center, 10 am-12 pm. Join CNC for a family-friendly morning with exclusive access to CNC’s Butterfly Encounter, where you can enjoy a light breakfast, experience several species of butterflies, and explore the grounds before opening. Advanced registration required.

July 9 Tot Spot, Atlantic Station, 10 am-12 pm. Tot Spot is the summer event for our littlest Atlantic Stationers, where they can celebrate fun in the sun, learn about subjects like science or public safety, all in an environment designed just for them!

July 11-12Repticon, Gwinnett County Fairgrounds. Repticon is a series of reptile & exotic animal conventions running throughout the U.S., a must-stop for reptile collectors and admirers of exotic amphibians.

July 11-12Atlanta Summer Halal Food Festival, Historic Old Fourth Ward, 12-10 pm. The Atlanta Summer Halal Food Festival is a vibrant outdoor celebration of halal food, culture, and community, bringing together families, friends, and food lovers.

July 12Grossology Day, Zoo Atlanta, 10 am-3 pm. Explore the purpose of animal behaviors that many think of as gross, but that help animals to survive and fulfill their roles in the ecosystem. Check out activity stations, games, and more throughout the Zoo.

July 12UPS Second Sunday, High Museum of Art, 12-5 pm. FREE admission for all visitors.

July 16 & 23 Lights, Camera, Avalon, 6 pm. Kick back, relax, & enjoy movie nights in The Plaza all summer long! Family favorites will be taking over the LED screen every other Thursday in June & July, starting at 6 pm. July 16th is Shrek, and July 23rd is Jumanji.

July 18 Build + Blast Model Rocket Workshop, Tellus Science Museum, 10 am-3 pm. Build your own rocket with expert assistance and then launch it! Plus, hear about the latest developments with NASA rockets from Tellus Volunteer and NASA Ambassador Chris Thompson. Advanced registration required.

July 18 Dinosaur Birthday Bash, Fernbank, 10 am-1 pm. Join us as we celebrate 25 years of Giants of the Mesozoic with the Dinosaur Birthday Bash! This high-energy morning is packed with hands-on, dinosaur-themed fun for fans of every era. This is also a great way to experience the other Dinosaur Summer highlights, including T. REX in the Giant Screen Theater and a special exhibit—T. rex: The Ultimate Predator! Included with museum admission.

July 25 Teen Takeover, Fernbank, 6-9 pm. Join Fernbank for a dino-mite night at the museum specially curated for teens (ages 13-17)! Teens can have fun with their friends while exploring the museum, seeing a film in our Giant Screen Theater, and enjoying activities led by our Fernbank educators.

July 25Atlanta Ice Cream Festival, Piedmont Park. Atlanta Ice Cream Festival is a fun-filled day paying homage to America’s favorite dessert with a variety of food and non-food vendors, live music, fitness routines, and wellness engagement activities.  Free admission.
