When to Go to IKEA
Weekdays vs. Weekends
-
- Weekdays: If you prefer a quieter shopping experience, visit IKEA on weekdays, particularly in the mornings. You’ll avoid the crowds and have a more relaxed time browsing.
- Weekends: Weekends can be quite busy, especially in the afternoon. However, if you enjoy people-watching and the bustling atmosphere, this might be the best time for you.
If you are planning to drop off your kids at Småland (a supervised indoor Playground with TVs, Arts and Crafts, Ball pools…) they might get filled up quickly on a crowded weekend. The opening hours in Atlanta are M-T: 11 a.m.- 7 p.m., F,S,S: 11 a.m.-8 p.m.
Sales and Special Events
-
- Semi-Annual Sales: Keep an eye out for IKEA’s major sales events, usually held twice a year. These sales offer significant discounts on a wide range of items.
- Seasonal Events: IKEA often hosts special events, like holiday-themed displays or summer outdoor living promotions. This can be a great time to find unique items and enjoy special offers.
You can find all their special events on the IKEA Website. Right now they have great deals on anything college-related!
Navigating the Restaurant
Menu Highlights
-
- Swedish Meatballs: No trip to IKEA is complete without trying their famous Swedish meatballs. Served with lingonberry jam and mashed potatoes, an absolute fan favorite. They are also available in the food store to enjoy them at home (super easy). –
- Marinated Salmon: For a taste of Swedish cuisine, try the marinated salmon, which is cured salmon served with mustard sauce and fresh dill.
- Vegetarian Options: IKEA also offers delicious vegetarian options, such as their veggie balls and plant-based hot dogs.
Best Times to Eat
-
- Early Lunch: To avoid the lunch rush, try to eat around 11:00 AM. The restaurant is less crowded, and you can enjoy your meal in peace.
- Afternoon Snack: If you’re shopping in the afternoon, take a break and enjoy a fika, the Swedish coffee break. Grab a cinnamon bun and a cup of coffee for a delightful treat.
Sidenote: To snap those pictures we went to the Atlanta store at 6.30 p.m. on a Thursday. Everything was empty and we didn’t wait in line. They were out of some meals, but the traditional meatball plate was still available. Strangely enough they were out of FORKS.
