You know the song:
I’d like to teach the world to sing
In perfect harmony
I’d like to buy the world a Coke
And keep it company
That’s the real thing
While this song was penned in 1971, Coca-Cola was born from the mind of a pharmacist back in 1886, and has become one of the most iconic beverages in history. So much so, that it has its own day – May 8 is National Coca-Cola Day. But not only is Coca-Cola a tasty drink, you can also wear it (the logo, not the liquid!), decorate with it, and, most importantly, cook with it. Here are some ideas for a tribute meal for this most auspicious soda celebration. Be sure to scroll all the way down – I have saved the best for last!

Jalapeno Meatballs – This one has a twist – it calls for 2 cups of Cherry Cola.
Ultimate Tater Tots – You’ll glaze some bacon in cola for this guilty pleasure.
Coca-Cola Spicy Sweet Mixed Nuts – Cinnamon, honey, butter – yum!
ENTREES
Grilled Chicken – Super easy recipe with delicious results.
Cola Burgers – These burgers turn out extra tender.
Chris’ Chili – This award-winning recipe has a kick to it!

Arroz con Coca Cola – A Colombian rice dish that has been described as sticky and sweet.
Chipotle Coca-Cola Sweet Potatoes – Bookmark this one for Thanksgiving.
Grilled Vegetables with Coca Cola – A little maple syrup and ginger add interesting flavors to your favorite veggies.
DESSERT
There is only one dessert. The Very Famous Coca-Cola Cake. This is a recipe that the South can proudly claim as far back as the 1950’s. I even have my grandmother’s handwritten version, posted below. It’s absolutely mouth-watering!
