Pre-quarantine, I celebrated Galentine’s Day for the first time. Galentine’s Day is a gal pal get together to celebrate women and friendships. After almost talking myself out of hosting the festivities, I was happy I pulled through and celebrated with my friends. I started to wonder, why do moms second guess doing anything for themselves? I do not hesitate to get my boys themed outfits for each holiday but the one holiday for gals, I almost tossed out the window. I read a recent Facebook post that scientist confirmed women are healthier when they have girlfriends. Why not take time to reconnect with our gal pals often? My friends and I vowed we would make stronger efforts to get together.

How can one pull off a consistent girl’s night out with kids, spouses, crazy work schedules and the never-ending laundry? Here are some tips for having a consistent mom’s outing when the time is right for you, post quarantine.

  1. Pick a date: Get together with your gal pals and decide what days work best for the group. Choose every third Friday of the month or the last Saturday of each month. This way you can stick to a commitment.
  2. Get your family on board: Let your spouse and little ones know your plans ahead of schedule. This way you can avoid any confusion or separation melt downs.
  3. Secure a babysitter: If your fellow gal pals also have kids, try splitting the sitter cost and have the kids all in one place. You can try rotating homes to have a sitter.
  4. Don’t over think it: This isn’t a bachelorette party remake. A nice bottle of wine and a movie at your gal pals’ home would suffice.
  5. Be selfish: As a mom we cater to everyone’s needs first. Having an outlet to recharge is always a good thing. When moms are happy their kids are happy!

Now pull out your calendars and start planning! You and your friends won’t regret it.
