My Fabulous Fourth of July Care Package

My son just finished his first year of college and is living in New York City this summer for an internship. One of the things I love to do when I don’t see my kids for a long time is send them a care package. Usually, it’s food (and a little $$$), but for Independence Day, I’ve decided to send a super-themed box his way. With just a few stops to some local stores, I was able to put together some fun treats for him. You might find some of these ideas perfect for your own family’s celebration.

My Fabulous Fourth of July Care Package

FIRST STOP – PARTY CITY

Here you see the traditional sparklers, plus a glow-in-the-dark frisbee, and a drink cup I am going to fill with red, white, and blue M&M’s. My son has some friends in NYC, so now he can contribute some fun to their gathering on the 4th.

SECOND STOP – TARGET

Found these patriotic M&M’s and Rice Krispie Treats.  Anything to match the theme, and add some snacks to his very small inventory. New York dorms are small, and his food budget is even smaller!

THIRD STOP – CVS

New York still requires masks in some areas, including Ubers, so reusable face coverings are very helpful these days. Plus, red, white, and blue lollipops – I couldn’t resist!

FOURTH STOP – OLD NAVY

What says you love your country more than flag-themed underwear?! Plus, a shirt that makes a nod to the stars and stripes in a subtle, but hopefully cool, way. (I have saved the receipt!)

LAST STOP – WAL-MART

More fun snacks! Pretzels on brand and special edition Oreos with popping candy inside. Good things to share, or nosh on after dinner.

Pretty soon I will box these up and send them off, with a note and maybe (probably) a few extra dollars. What are your favorite holiday goodies?  Please share below!
