Keeping Summers Simple and Special with bartaco

I begin each summer excited with the simplicity it will bring – a busy school year has come to an end, there is no bus to catch. We will sleep in, read daily, and catch fireflies. And while my intentions are there, admittedly they are a bit naïve. The reality of summer is that our days are packed with camps, playdates, afternoons at the pool, and trips to see the grandparents.

I’m not complaining – all of these things are more fun than parent/teacher conferences and checking over daily homework, but they keep us busy! Normal adult responsibilities, like prepping dinner at reasonable times, in summer tend to go by the wayside. And although our daily activities aren’t simple, our family has found ways to keep summer dinners simple. You will find us on our porch at night either eating an easy grilled dinner or takeout from one of our favorite restaurants (no dirty dishes to clean for the win!).

bartaco Makes It Simple

bartaco for the win!

We have always loved bartaco! There are multiple locations in the Atlanta area and we’ve even found ourselves eating at the Asheville, NC location on vacation.  In our house, tacos aren’t restricted to just Tuesdays and bartaco makes some of the best.

In our search for simple summer dinners, we were thrilled to try out bartaco’s to-go meals.  The process is as simple as 1-2-3…and dishes are done!

  1. Order online or via the bartaco app

The app is easy to navigate, includes photos of each meal so you know exactly what you are ordering, and sends you notifications when your food is ready!

  2. Pick up your food at the to-go window inside the restaurant

Try to make it home before officially digging in…or not…no judgment here

  3. Surprise your family with a delicious meal “out” in the comfort of your own home

With all of the time you saved by not cooking dinner and cleaning afterward, I highly recommend actually catching fireflies or maybe enforcing a little summer reading on the porch as a family!

bartaco Makes It Special

bartaco doesn’t only make to-go meals simple, they also make them special and here’s why:

  • My kids loved having their meal packaged in a cute (and functional!) bartaco lunch box. The lunchbox was filled with their favorites – a taco, a cheese quesadilla, and chips + kid’s guacamole.  After finishing their meal, they customized their lunchbox with stickers that were included.
  • My husband loved finding a treat I had ordered for the two of us – bartaco cocktails. We ordered “the reviver for two” which was a combination of gin, cucumber, mint, mango nectar, and lime juice.  It was a perfect summer porch cocktail to enjoy at the end of the day!
  • I loved the menu of food options. Being newly gluten and dairy free is hard when you also like to eat out!  bartaco’s menu made it SO easy though – there were many options to choose from, even considering my dietary restrictions.

Jessica
Jessica is an adventure-loving, over-committing, and previously organized mother of 2! She and her husband (high school sweethearts) moved to Atlanta in 2006 after graduating college, ready to start their life in the “real world”. They have experienced so many wonderful life milestones while in Atlanta – lived in Buckhead pre-kids, bought a house in great Smyrna neighborhood, had their first child in 2011 (a spunky little girl, Vivian), welcomed their second child exactly 18 months later in 2012 (a creative and crazy little boy, Harrison), and most recently added a Golden Doodle named Winston into the mix. Jessica and her family have since moved to the burbs of Milton where you now find them past 2 horse farms on the right. Jessica has always loved being part of a community, so when the opportunity to join the Atlanta Mom executive team presented itself it was a no brainer! She loved it so much, in fact, that in 2021 she and Natalie joined forces to lead the team and continue connecting with awesome moms across the ATL!

  1. I love salads with berries in them during the summer, especially strawberries and blueberries

  2. All sorts of salads are the best in the summer — pasta salad, fruit salad, chicken salad, etc.!
