Summer in Atlanta is heating up, the kids are out of school and we’re in search of some entertainment and fun for our families.
Pack up the kids and head out to one or more of these fun events this June!
June Family-Friendly Events In and Around Atlanta
June 1-2:
Flying Colors Butterfly Festival – The Chattahoochee Nature Center in Roswell, GA hosts an annual butterfly garden event. Bring your camera and your kids to enjoy the butterfly garden on the grounds. Feed, study, and talk with pollinator experts about the different types of butterflies found in the garden.
June 7-27:
Summer Fest at Copper Creek Farm – Kids can enjoy pony rides, hay rides, kid-sized zip lining, a splash pad, a candy cannon, and more! Admission is $20.56 per person, children under 2 are free.
June 8:
World Oceans Day at Georgia Aquarium – Enjoy a day of expanded programming, meet and greets with expert staff, and special activities for all ages at Georgia Aquarium to celebrate World Oceans Day. Available with membership or general admission tickets.
June 8-9:
Virginia Highland Summerfest – Summerfest is a celebration of community and a great way to kick off the summer! Begin your summer in the beautiful neighborhood of Virginia Highland. Enjoy live bands, shop for art, eat some great food, and even run a 5k!

Rock Fest at Tellus Science Museum – Enjoy the annual rock show at Tellus Science Museum. Experience geology-themed activities for the whole family including hands-on activities, live lapidary demonstrations, and even geode cracking. Rock Fest also features more than 20 vendors with unique fossils, jewelry, and mineral specimens. Available with membership or general admission pass.
June 15th:
Art Gone Wild at Zoo Atlanta – Enjoy this pop-up art festival at Zoo Atlanta. This event is free with a membership or a general admission ticket. Shop handcrafted jewelry, ceramics, wall art, gifts, and so much more.
June 19th:
Juneteenth Freedom Parade and Music Fest – College Park – Come down to College Park for a whole day of family fun, music, and festivities. The parade will march down Main Street College Park beginning at 10:00 am. There will also be movies on the lawn, a vendor fair, a kids’ zone, and music on the lawn throughout the day. Be sure to check out all the Juneteenth festivities here.
June 21-23:
Juneteenth Atlanta Parade and Music Festival – Celebrate all weekend long at Piedmont Park! The parade begins at noon on Saturday and routes from the King Center on Auburn Ave NE to Piedmont Park. In addition to speakers, there will be musical performances, food trucks, and a large children’s activity area.
June 22:
Children’s Book Festival at Alpharetta Branch Library – Kids will have the opportunity to meet beloved authors, and enjoy games, face painting, crafts, and more. This event is for ages 2-10 and free.
