Atlanta Family Events Guide to June 2025

School’s out, the sun is shining, and it’s summer in Atlanta! If you’re looking for ways to keep the kids busy (and burn off some of that endless energy), we’ve got you covered. Whether you’re interested in outdoor festivals, cultural events, or hands-on activities for kids, plenty is happening around the city this June!

June Family-Friendly Events In and Around Atlanta

Now – August 17Glow Nights, Georgia Aquarium, 4 p.m.- close. Enjoy an evening experience inspired by the ocean’s bioluminescence. The nightly event features live performances from jugglers, unicyclists, and aerialists.

June 6Art Walk, Marietta Square, 5-9 p.m. Experience the local art scene and dine at the restaurant you have been wanting to try. This is perfect for a date night or a way to introduce your kids to local art and artists in a casual setting.

June 6-8Summer Fest, Virginia-Highland. Summerfest is a celebration of community and a great way to kick off the summer! Begin your summer in the beautiful neighborhood of Virginia Highland. Enjoy live bands, shop for art, eat some great food, and even run a 5k!

June 7 A Turtle’s Shell-ebration, Fernbank, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Kick off the grand opening of the Turtles exhibit with fun activities and crafts! Dive into the world of these incredible reptiles with hands-on stations and interactive learning experiences.

June 7 20,000 Beers Under the Sea, Georgia Aquarium, 4-8 p.m. Celebrate the arrival of summer with unlimited beer, seltzer, and cider samples along with gourmet cuisine, live music, and an unforgettable evening in the stunning Oceans Ballroom. This is a 21+ event.

June 7-8 Butterfly Festival, Chattahoochee Nature Center. The Chattahoochee Nature Center in Roswell, GA, hosts an annual butterfly garden event. Bring your camera and your kids to enjoy the butterfly garden on the grounds. Feed, study, and talk with pollinator experts about the different types of butterflies found in the garden.

June 8 Neighborhood Block Party, 3:30-7:30 p.m. Go wild at the Zoo with your local community. This event includes reduced admission rates, music, bubbles, inflatables, and a scavenger hunt.

June 8UPS Second Sunday, High Museum of Art, 12-5 p.m. FREE admission for all visitors.

June 12Screen on the Green, Atlantic Station, 7-9 p.m. To celebrate Juneteenth, Atlantic Station is showing Hidden Figures for its Screen on the Green series. There’ll be a food truck and ample seating, but feel free to bring a snack or two and a picnic blanket, as well. This event is free to the public.

June 14-15Rock Fest, Tellus Science Museum, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Visit Tellus for the 34th annual rock show. With geology-themed activities and experiences for the whole family, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

June 14-15Juneteenth Atlanta Parade and Music Festival, Piedmont Park. Celebrate all weekend long at Piedmont Park! The parade begins at noon on Saturday and runs from the King Center on Auburn Ave NE to Piedmont Park. In addition to speakers, there will be musical performances, food trucks, and a large children’s activity area.

June 15Juneteenth, Atlanta History Center, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Join the Atlanta History Center for a FREE day filled with activities for the whole family as we celebrate Juneteenth and the enduring power of Black craftsmanship and artistry. June 19-22 and June 26-29Slide City Waterpark, Atlantic Station. Come cool off at the world’s first all-inflatable pop-up waterpark! Featuring more than 20 inflatable attractions, Slide City is truly a water playground for all ages.

June 21Bourbon and Brisket Festival, The Battery Atlanta, 12-8 p.m. FREE for the whole family! Enjoy a fun day of BBQ, bourbon, live music, and fun—all for a great cause!

June 24 – August 3 Harold and the Purple Crayon, Center for Puppetry Arts. Join Harold on this whimsical adventure and discover the magic of creativity in a world where anything is possible! This show is suitable for children aged 4 and above.
