How to Stay Cool in HOTlanta

“It’s SO HOT!”

How many times do we hear this (or say it) each day? With record temperatures in Atlanta this summer, we’ve got to find some creative ways to cool off. Here are just a few ideas.

How to Stay Cool in HOTlanta

Sweets – No doubt you have a chain ice cream shop near home, but why not have a frozen treat adventure? Some local favorites are Morelli’s, where you can order Coconut Jalapeno or Cream Cheese Guava; Jake’s Ice Cream, famous for their Chocolate Slap Yo Mama and Brown Shugah Vanilla; or Queen of Cream, which boasts the only shop that makes their ice cream from scratch.

Shows – Take your movie-watching experience to the next level with these fancy theaters. The Plaza, hosts a wide range of films, including the Rocky Horror Picture Show every Friday night; or you can go for the Giant Screen 3D Theater at Fernbank.

Splash – Swimming pools are great, but why not take it up a notch? Venture out for some great snorkeling at the Conasauga River. Head to Rolater Park to fill up your jugs with natural spring water, swim in the lake, and tour the Cave. Make a day of it on the Atlanta Beltline with the D.H. Stanton Park Splash Pad.

Sports – There are so many interesting indoor activities in Atlanta that it is hard to pick just one. Some new ones on my radar are Tiny Towne, an indoor driving space with a train, arcade, and motor track; The Painted Pin, where you can bowl from leather couches or play Giant Jenga while snacking on sliders and tacos; or if you have some ninjas in the family, test your skills at Adventure Air Sports.
