As the weather starts to heat up and it officially becomes summer, something starts to happen to me. I smile a lot more. I get to wear my cute new shirts. And my schedule really starts to pick up. A LOT! Enter the summer activities and sports season! What does that mean for us? Soccer — and plenty of it!
As a mother of three boys, it is not uncommon at all to find me in my car planning my route to our next practice or game. After all, with three boys, our schedules are often pretty packed. We have swimming, soccer, rehearsals, more soccer, outings with friends, MORE soccer…you get it.
We are always on the go.
Breakfast for dinner saves this mom during soccer season.
I used to beat myself up about not making the “perfect” dinner for my family. I would feel guilty about making breakfast for dinner. Sometimes, I felt like it was too easy and would tell myself I should do more. But you know what? Our family has always loved it! It’s a staple in our home and one that is sure to get cheers from everyone in the family.
During soccer season, it seems like I am always getting our things ready and preparing to run out the door. That doesn’t leave me with a lot of time to prep a big meal. Having a wholesome, great tasting bowl of Post Cereals is convenient and keeps our little all-stars fueled for their big game! And it is a perfect reason for my husband to grab an even bigger bowl of his favorite – Cocoa Pebbles!
(Looking for to add some variety to your meals, Post has some great recipes HERE.)
Soccer snacks are the perfect way to end the game.
My boys are always ready for their snacks bags of Honeycombs. I typically bring plenty of extra ones with me because all of the other kids love them as well! There’s no cleanup, everyone loves it and whether they have won or lost the game, the cereal snack is guaranteed to bring smiles to their faces.
And as harried as things can seem sometimes, I have to say that we love it. Soccer season is just a few short months for us and the sacrifice that we make for practice and game days is worth it.
The kids have an absolute blast on the field with their friends. Sometimes they are all actually running in the direction that they are supposed to go and as parents, we cheer them on. All of the sacrifice and time spent in traffic (or those early morning games) is all worth it to see the kids having the time of their lives out there on the field.
