My Favorite Spots in Smyrna

When I moved to Georgia as a kid, I remember having a hard time adjusting to a new state. As the years passed, I was still struggling to come to terms with not living in a city. For a long time, Georgia just didn’t feel like home, but that changed once I met my now husband and had my boys.

For the past few months, I have been thinking about what makes my city my home. I realized there are several places that are my go-to spots. When friends and family visit, they always ask where my favorite places to go are. So if you’re wanting to explore Smyrna or are new to the area, check out some of my favorite places below.

Downtown Smyrna

Smyrna Market Village

There are so many restaurants and small shops in Downtown Smyrna. I love that there are also so many different events that are held in Downtown Smyrna. Some events that are held in Downtown Smyrna include Taste of Smyrna, Easter Egg Hunts, the annual Fall Festival, and so much more. Almost all of the events held in Downtown Smyrna are family-friendly. There’s something for everyone in the family which makes it the perfect spot to go to any day of the week.

Lewis A. Ray Library

This is a small library that is part of the Cobb County Public Library System. I really love this library because it is small. The Lewis A. Ray Library offers Baby and Toddler Story Time which is a 30-minute program of stories and playtime. It’s a great way to meet new mom friends and help babies and toddlers with social skills. The library also offers a bilingual class, craft events, and so much more.

Newk’s

I absolutely love Newk’s. It’s the perfect place to grab lunch or dinner. My husband and I have had a few day dates there. Customer service is amazing and the food is delicious. I highly recommend the Newk’s Q sandwich.

Smallcakes of Smyrna

Whether you are purchasing some treats for a party or just need a pick-me-up, Smallcakes is the best place to get some cupcakes. Their birthday cake and decadent fudge cupcakes are delicious. If you’re not in the mood for cupcakes, they also offer cookies and ice cream. There are several locations throughout Georgia which is very convenient.

Silver Comet Trail

It amazes me how long it has taken me to actually go to the Silver Comet Trail. I went to the trail for the first time in 2018 and loved it. I don’t even know how to describe how I felt going to the trail. It felt so freeing and the scenery was beautiful. The Silver Comet Trail is very family-friendly and my sons loved going for a nature walk.

Whether you are looking for a new restaurant or a new place to work out (or go for a walk), Smyrna has just what you need.
